# Data terms

Cormorant serves company and market data gathered from many sources. What
you may do with a value depends on where it comes from, and every value
says so: the record's `provenance` names the source of each field, `sources`
lists the documents read, and `GET /v1/companies/sources` gives each
source's licence.

## Market data

Values whose source is `market_data` (prices, quotes, market
capitalisation, fundamentals, estimates, the company `description` and
other listing data) are licensed to Cormorant for the projects it serves.
Use them inside your project. Do not republish them, resell them or pass
them on to third parties as data, and keep them out of anything public,
such as a website, a report for clients or a dataset you share.

## Official registers and filings

Values from official registers, regulators and filing systems (national
company registers, GLEIF, SEC EDGAR, EDINET, ESEF reports and the like) and
from open sources such as Wikidata come with each source's own terms,
mostly open licences or public-domain status. Follow the terms the source
list names, and credit the source where they ask for it.

## Exchange rates

ECB reference rates (`source: ecb`) may be reused with the ECB named as the
source. Intraday rates (`source: market_data`) follow the market data terms
above.

## Questions

When you are unsure whether a use is covered, ask the operator of your
Cormorant project before you publish anything.
